Can all tattoos be treated?
Yes, the great majority of tattoos, whether professional, amateur or cosmetic tattoos, respond to our laser treatments. While we do employ the most advanced lasers and can remove the majority of colours, some inks will not respond to any laser treatments, typically Yellow and White. Some colours, if not treated correctly, will darken to Grey or Black and will never be removable once they do. That is why it is in your interests to only consider removal by a Laser Tattoo Removal Specialist.
FAQ's
Does the treatment hurt?
Yes, the laser can cause a stinging sensation – a bit like having an elastic band flicked against your skin. For more sensitive areas, a topical anaesthetic can be applied to minimize discomfort.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on a number of factors. On average, amateur or cosmetic eyebrow tattoos take 2-6 treatments to remove. A professional multi-coloured design might need 5-10 or more treatments. This can be discussed in more detail at your consultation.
How frequently are the laser treatments required?
We recommend a treatment every 6 to 8 weeks, during which time your body has time to remove the fragmented pigment. The tattoo gradually fades as the pigment is fragmented by the laser and removed with each treatment.
Are there any side effects?
In rare cases pigmentation changes can occur but these are most often only temporary and usually resolve within a few weeks or occasionally months of treatment. If you prefer we can do a test first to judge results in a small area before going ahead with a more complete treatment
What about Cover Up Tattoos?
Our Laser Treatment can greatly improve cover up tattoos. By lightening your tattoo first your tattooist will have many more options without the need to use large solid blacks and dark colours. The pinpoint accuracy of our laser and our highly skilled specialist means we can selectively remove specific sections of your tattoo also even after cover up work, if required.
What about Pico laser?
There is a very wise saying when it comes to Cosmetic Procedures of any kind; "Don't be the first with anything new nor the last with anything old" These types of lasers promised some "hard to believe" results and as it turned out they were hard to believe for good reason (See Picosure Class Action)
We have also done extensive testing on Pico Laser Technology and do have this laser in our line up. Howerver it is not the complete answer and advertised claims of quicker removal are not solidly based therefore we continue to use 3 different lasers to achieve the best results for our clients.
At Laser X we are committed to the safest and most effective tattoo removal available and our lasers are among the fastest methods currently available.
Does Laser X use the R20 method?
Yes we can. Our lasers are directly suited to this modern alternative. However this method is not suitable for all people and the benefits of this treatment are not a guarantee to faster removal. Unfortunately new methods over the years have been promoted to remove tattoos more quickily but have often only allowed unscupulous operators to exploit individuals without benefits. We would be happy to discuss this method with you at your consultation.
What about cosmetic tattoos?
At Laser X we can remove cosmetic eyebrow tattoos or parts thereof. We do not treat eyeliner tattoos.
