Early methods of tattoo removal were less than successful. Surgery, acid injection, dermabrasion and skin grafts were painful and often leave scars. Some modern methods now promoted are just as alarming (See OVERVIEW page for further information on these methods and why they are of concern). Lasers were looked to for the answer, however early versions of these such as Argon and CO2 had a mixed success and have since been abandoned. The good news is that lasers have now been developed specifically for tattoo removal and have been highly successful in removing ink without scarring. We use the very latest equipment available designed only for tattoo removal.

The great majority of tattoos, whether professional or amateur, respond to our laser treatments. Some Pigments, especially green, orange and yellow are more difficult than other colours to eradicate, but even they usually respond following a prolonged course of treatment.

It can sting a little and feels like having an elastic band flicked against your skin. For sensitive areas or if you prefer we can recommend a topical anaesthetic that will make a treatment quite comfortable. Please contact us for details.

By matching the colour of the laser to the colour of the unwanted tattoo ink, many multi-coloured professional tattoos as well as single colour amateur tattoos can be removed safely and effectively.

This depends on your tattoo - it’s size, colour and the depth of penetration of the ink amongst other factors. An amatuer tattoo may need 2-5 treatments. A professional multi-coloured design might need 5-10 or more treatments.

In rare cases pigmentation changes can occur but these are most often only temporary and usually resolve within a few months of treatment. If you prefer we offer to do a test patch to ensure that you can see the results in a small area before going ahead with further treatment.
